ABOUT OUTDOOR ALLIANCE CALIFORNIA

Outdoor Alliance has convened a number of state-based coalitions. These coalitions bring together local recreation advocacy groups to advocate on important recreation and conservation priorities in the state, and to bring local recreation voices to federal public land and water policy.

Outdoor Alliance California (OA California) is our newest statewide partnership. Its goal is to serve as a platform for California outdoor recreation leaders to coordinate their efforts to protect public lands, waters and snowscapes, and to ensure these places can be experienced in a meaningful and sustainable manner.

When climbers, paddlers, hikers, mountain bikers and backcountry skiers speak with one voice, policymakers listen. Our collective voice increases the leverage our community can apply to federal and state level decisions affecting public lands and recreation.

We connect advocates across California to make sure national, regional, and local policy creation reflects the conservation values of our community. From national policies like the Central Coast Heritage Protection Act to state policy like the recent proposal for a California State Office of Outdoor Recreation, we bring outdoor recreation voices in California to bear on issues that matter to the outdoor community.

OA California connects local knowledge, sensibilities, and priorities with national perspectives and expertise. This connection empowers the human powered outdoor recreation community both regionally and nationally and enables its members to pursue common goals more effectively.
