ABOUT OUTDOOR ALLIANCE Oregon
Outdoor Alliance Oregon (OA Oregon) is a state wide partnership that serves as a platform for members to coordinate their efforts to protect public lands, waters and snowscapes, and to ensure these places can be experienced in a meaningful and sustainable manner. Because this work has both national and regional aspects, a partnership with Outdoor Alliance, a coalition of national groups focused on national policy decisions, and local and regional human powered outdoor recreation organizations will have great utility.
When climbers, paddlers, hikers, mountain bikers and backcountry skiers speak with one voice, people, especially policymakers, listen. Our collective voice increases the leverage our community can apply to federal and state level decisions affecting public lands and recreation.
While national public lands policy may be decided in Washington, D.C., it lives at the local and regional level, where it is implemented and where it directly impacts individual members of the human powered community. Additionally, the Oregon state legislature and state agencies also develop policies that impact our community. By connecting the national, regional and local levels, the human powered community can drive better policy creation and make sure it is implemented in a way that reflects the conservation values of our community.
OA Oregon connects local knowledge, sensibilities and priorities with national perspectives and expertise and enhances all of the members’ policy, advocacy and organizational capacities. This connection empowers the human powered outdoor recreation community both regionally and nationally and enables its members to pursue common goals more effectively.
